The Hortus film was made to accompany a solo exhibition at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, ‘Hortus: A Dartmoor Garden Over Time’. The exhibition was an imaginative evocation of the changing moods and seasons of a medieval farmhouse garden over decades and centuries.
An invited group exhibition of ceramics, etching, painting and sculpture. I will be showing with Madeline Goold, Adrian Hemming and Edmund McGowan; and as guest curator I will be at the gallery throughout the exhibition.
Elemental brings together work by artists drawn to the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. Moved by the powers of nature we explore flight, growth, time, tides and the seasons as manifested in natural forms and forces.
Elemental transformations also occur for each artist through the catalyst of wood fire, acid on copper, direct carving of stone or simply in the mysterious process of transmutation from the original idea to realisation of the art work.
